Seven Samurai in 4K

Thursday, August 1st

The 4k restoration of the Akira Kurosawa classic is rereleased to theaters this summer for its 70th anniversary. The story tells the tale of a humble village in need of defenders from the imminent threat of raiders. The poor village can’t afford to pay anyone so they have to find down on their luck samurai that will fight for food and shelter. In the end they find seven. The film would star Kurosawa’s muse Toshiro Mifune and further cement Kurosawa’s directorial legacy as well as go on to be widely considered one of the greatest films in cinema as well as one of the most remade and imitated. It was the direct inspiration for films like – The Magnificent Seven, Battle beyond the stars, A bug’s life, and Rebel Moon just to name a few. The 1954 black and white epic has English subtitles and a 3 hour runtime.
