William Shatner is an award-winning actor, director, producer, writer, recording artist, philanthropist and horseman. In 1966, he originated the role of Captain James T. Kirk in the TV series Star Trek, which spawned a film franchise where he returned as Kirk in seven of the movies, one of which he directed. He played the title role in the hit series T.J. Hooker before hosting TV’s first reality-based series, Rescue 911. He won Emmys and his first Golden Globe for his portrayal of Denny Crane on The Practice and Boston Legal and received four more Emmy nominations as well as Golden Globe and SAG Award nods. via show fb

Wild Wild West Con (day 1)

The Old Tucson studios will host a horde  of Steampunk travelers this weekend for Wild Wild West Con. Now in its 5th year, WWC will have 3 days worth of panels and workshops as well as concerts and performance art. Tonight’s acts are Steam Powered Giraffe and Dry River Yacht Club.

The University of Arizona’s Lunar and Planetary Laboratory presents the Third Annual Art of Planetary Science, an exhibition of art celebrating the beauty and elegance of science. The exhibition features locally sourced works of art inspired by planetary science, alongside works created from scientific data. The hope is to bring together the science and art communities in Tucson to enjoy and be inspired by our universe.  With over 200 works of art from more than 100 local artists and scientists! A variety of mediums are represented, including painting, photography, digital prints, sculptures, textiles, and film.
