This young pair brings us a moving program for violin and piano.

Mozart’s Sonata in E minor is the only one of the composer’s violin sonatas in a minor key and it is wistful music, full of a depth of feeling that many have associated with the death of his mother, which occurred around the time he wrote the work while in Paris with her in July 1778. Ravel and Kreisler offer a jauntier tone but no less emotional impact. The concert closes with Faure’s sonata, composed during a period of great joy in the composer’s life, after announcing his engagement (although he would never marry). The work was premiered in 1877 with Faure himself at the piano.

Ioana Cristina Goicea was born into a family of musicians in Bucharest in 1992 and plays a Giambattista Guadagnini violin (Parma, 1761). She is a professor of violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and has won many prizes and competitions.

She is joined by Romanian pianist Adela Liculescu, who is not only a soloist and chamber musician but performs with major orchestras and won first prize at the unique Prix du Piano in Bern. She currently studies at the Thyll-Durr foundation of Switzerland and the Music Academy of Licthenstein.
